FRIENDS OF ST. MARTIN'S
Friends of St. Martin's was started in 1994 and primarily it was a group who's task was to visit people who had been bereaved, with a floral gift and a card, just to let them know that we in St. Martin's were thinking about them and if invited to do so, to listen to their concerns and befriend them.
It was the intention to visit for about 13 months but many of these friendships have lasted much longer, so that after ten years we have two social events a year, a lunch at Christmas time and a Strawberry tea or lunch in the summer when we meet together to chat, to share experiences and as the pain of bereavement lessens to some degree, to laugh and enjoy the company.
Today we have extended our remit to include those who are sick, by visiting and taking the good wishes of St. Martin's with us. If you know of anyone who would like one of the group to call please contact Father McKenna.
